Georgia Emerges as a Preferred Destination for Indian Travellers, Witnesses record growth, deepening cultural ties and a rise in Film Tourism.
Georgia is fast emerging as one of the most sought-after destinations for Indian travellers, witnessing remarkable growth in arrivals and strengthening its position on the global tourism map. With its unique blend of four-season experiences, rich cultural heritage, cinematic appeal, and world-renowned hospitality, Georgia is capturing the imagination of Indian tourists like never before. In 2024, Georgia welcomed 124,000 visitors from India. In the first six months of 2025 alone, arrivals from India grew by 40% compared to the same period last year.
“We are positioning ourselves more and more on the world tourism map. Georgia has its own place, its own brand, and its own signature. What makes me proud is that the number of visitors from India is constantly increasing, making India one of our fastest-growing and most valued markets. Indian travellers are not only exploring our vibrant cities but are also discovering Georgia’s pristine landscapes and national parks. Their enthusiasm for nature and culture inspires us to keep diversifying and enhancing our tourism offerings. I would also like to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of the Georgian National Tourism Administration and Think Strawberries, our representatives in India, whose dedicated work has played a vital role in strengthening Georgia’s presence in this important market,” said Vakhtang Jaoshvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of India.
The roadshows were strongly supported by leading Georgian stakeholders including Kazin DMC, Travel Bee LLC, Georgian Travel Group, Adjara Tour, Georgian Travel Club, Mayflower Travel & Tourism, Voyager, Georgia Adventure Club DMC, Vector, Georgian Holidays, and LLC Guide of Georgia, who came together to showcase the country’s diverse tourism offerings to the Indian market.
Easy Access and Welcoming Policies
Travel to Georgia has never been more seamless. The country offers an efficient e-visa process, typically approved within three to four days, while Indian travellers holding valid Schengen, US, UK, or Australian visas or residence permits can enter Georgia visa-free. Direct air connectivity is also a major advantage, with IndiGo Airlines operating daily flights from Delhi and thrice-weekly flights from Mumbai, alongside excellent one-stop Gulf carrier connections. Highlighting Georgia’s commitment to ease of travel, Ambassador Jaoshvili enthusiastically remarked, “Accessibility is the cornerstone of tourism growth,” stressing that simplified visa processes and direct flights make Georgia feel “just a few hours away — easy to reach and even easier to fall in love with.”
A Bond Beyond Tourism
India and Georgia share deep-rooted cultural ties, dating back to references in Georgia’s 12th-century national epic, The Knight in the Panther’s Skin. Today, the relationship thrives through over 21,000 Indian students pursuing education in Georgia and a growing Georgian love for Indian cinema, cuisine, and cricket. Underscoring the warmth of this relationship, Ambassador Jaoshvili noted that this people-to-people connection “extends far beyond tourism — it is a bond of culture, education, and shared values,” with Indian traditions and creativity resonating naturally in Georgian society.
Storytelling That Speaks to the Heart
To further strengthen this cultural bridge, Georgia Tourism recently launched its new brand film for the Indian market, “Yeh Dil Phir Jeene Laga,” conceptualised and executed by Think Strawberries. Capturing Georgia’s sweeping landscapes, rich heritage, and vibrant experiences, the film has resonated strongly with consumers and the travel trade alike. Sharing his excitement about the campaign, Ambassador Jaoshvili described it as “storytelling that touches emotions,” explaining that it brings alive Georgia’s spirit in a way that connects deeply with Indian travellers seeking experiences that are both beautiful and soulful.
Adding to this, Munnmunn Marwah, Chief Operating Officer of Think Strawberries, said, “Bringing this brand film to life for the Indian market was about more than showcasing a destination — it was about telling a story that Indians could see themselves in.
